What is Success Anyway?

What is success? and Who defines what it is? You might be thinking: "Society, my parents, my friends, my church..." the answer seems obvious, but is it really?

The truth is that YOU define it. The real question is: "What does success mean to YOU?" Success means something different to each and everyone of us.

Definition of Success

No two definitions of success are the same. We each have our own personal definition of what authentic success is for us and it's based on our upbringing, values and past experiences. It is also true, that our definition changes, evolves with time, adjusting to our ever-changing circumstances.

Most people think of success only as setting a certain goal or goals and achieving a desired outcome. In reality, it goes beyond this.

Suc*cess - noun. From latin: successus.

Definition of what is success, dictionary definition of success, philosophy of success, success secrets.

  • 1. Act of succeeding; succession.

  • 2. That which comes after; hence, consequence, issue, or result, of an endeavor or undertaking, whether good or bad; the outcome of effort.

  • 3. The favorable or prosperous termination of anything attempted; the attainment of a proposed object; prosperous issue.

  • 4. That which meets with, or one who accomplishes, favorable results, as a play or a player.

That which comes after, succession... pretty straight forward, don't you think?...the result or consequence of an effort. And isn't that what success really is? A series of targeted efforts directed towards a desired goal...a continuation of efforts...a pathway...a journey.
