Definition of Love

Discover the real definition of love and be confident to feel and act in more loving ways. The feeling of love manifests in many forms.

There is the love for your children, for your partner, your parents, your grandparents.

Love of nature can arise when viewing a sunset or sunrise, when standing before a majestic mountain, or when experiencing the force of the ocean's waves. Animals, especially baby animals elicit a certain warmth inside - love. The love of appreciating life human and otherwise.

When friends and family gather around the kitchen table to share a meal - that bonding and loving feeling has no equal... this and more is what the definition of love is about.

Authentic happiness comes with the act of love: living in the now and truly learning to be in the present.

What is love?

I've been asking myself this very question for a while now. And the answer has not come as a simple answer. I'm struggling with love as a feeling and the actual act of love.

You see, my friend's son was in a terrible car accident. Her son is 19 years old and he is laying in a comma at the State Hospital between life and death. His mother, Laura has gone through every feeling possible. As I watch her and am present with her I can only be amazed at the power of love that can emanate from a mother's heart. I stand in awe of her. I am humbled. I have not stopped crying.

My youngest son is her son's friend...we are all connected through this life-changing experience and the pain runs deep, but so does the faith and hope that Jaime will make it through.

The stream of friends and family have not stopped. Jaime's friends, ex-girlfriends, Laura's friends and family from town and out-of-town. Support from her church, daily prayer vigils, reiki sessions, all that we can do for her and offer is done with love as we expect news of this young man's progress.
